We practice our faith regularly and seek to equip the community faith for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.
You are invited this week to consider why you give.
Firstly, it is scriptural. Both the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures ask us to give a portion of what we get from God (in life energy and resources) back to God in thanksgiving as well as to support the more economically vulnerable as well as our community of faith’s vitality.
Secondly, giving invites us to understanding finances in a God-centered way. Jesus specifically reminds us that wealth can replace God due to natural anxiety as well as pride. Matthew 6:24 he says, “No one can serve two masters, for a slave will either hate the one and love the other or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.”
Lastly, we give to ensure a place for our children to learn, our elders to teach and our adults to receive care and support.
Come and help us serve and enjoy a Thanksgiving Meal for all October 13th
